In line with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ policy, and following the directives of Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, to enhance integration among sector companies and improve the quality of petroleum products, Alexandria Mineral Oils Company AMOC and Middle East Oil Refinery MIDOR have signed a new cooperation protocol aimed at improving one of AMOC’s key products through MIDOR’s advanced refining facilities. The agreement, signed on Saturday, October 25, 2025, at MIDOR’s headquarters in Alexandria, comes with the full support of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation EGPC, which continues to strengthen integration among petroleum companies and drive added value across the refining sector. The protocol outlines a joint plan between AMOC and MIDOR to increase the production of high-quality gas oil that adheres to international benchmarks, with an estimated 350,000 tons added to the domestic market. The initiative relies on advanced refining processes at MIDOR to upgrade AMOC’s product into a globally certified one. The signing took place under the patronage of Eng. Salah Abdel Karim, Chief Executive Officer of EGPC, and was attended by Dr. Eng. Amr Lotfy, MIDOR’s Chairman and CEO, and Chem. Maged El-Kordy, AMOC’s Chairman and CEO, alongside senior EGPC officials including Eng. Wael Rizk, Vice President for Refining and Manufacturing, Dr. Mohamed Atef, Executive Vice President for Foreign Trade, Eng. Ibrahim Motawea, Deputy CEO for Planning and Projects, and Major General Mohamed Farag, Assistant Executive President for Security, in addition to several leaders from the petroleum sector and representatives from both companies. This agreement reflects a strategic move towards enhancing operational efficiency, improving the quality of petroleum products, and ensuring compliance with global specifications. It also supports the adoption of sustainable and safe operational alternatives while strengthening institutional integration and cooperation across refining and downstream operations. This protocol builds on the longstanding partnership between AMOC and MIDOR, reinforcing the Ministry of Petroleum’s strategy to deepen collaboration among sector companies, maximize the value of available resources, and strengthen Egypt’s refining and manufacturing capacities in support of its sustainable energy vision.
